Fan Created Theatrical Works Submission Policies

One of the growing forms of Harry Potter fandom artist expression has been the production of fan produced theatrical performances and musicals. Based on feedback from our guests, MISTI-Con will be accepting proposals for fan created original theatrical works. It is important to note, that many of the other conventions that have offered this program have been much larger than MISTI-Con, with larger venues and more resources.
MISTI-Con is very limited in both of those things, so we have to put guidelines in place for the size and scope of performances we can potentially accept. Theatrical programs can potentially require extensive staff time that is needed in multiple other areas of the convention. These guidelines ensure that both the con staff and the submitters have clear expectations.
Duration: Performances can be a maximum of 1 hour in length. There is a 30 minute period before and after your performance time slot for setup and tear down.
Space/Location: Performances can only take place in the Blackstone Lounge or the Pavilion Tent (the smaller lake side tent). The Main Events Tent is unfortunately not available for fan productions.

Rehearsal: Due to space constraints conference rooms and performance spaces are not available for rehearsals.
Equipment: Productions need to be self sufficient in regards to audio and visual. Any amplification or music technology is the responsibility of the cast and crew. Additionally any set pieces must be described in the Production Treatment (in submission form).
Registration Requirement: Everyone in the production must be a MISTI-Con attendee. No comps will be offered for cast and crew of fan productions.
